On April 25, the Mississippi Baptist Health Systems board officially approved the merger of its organization with ours, creating the nation’s largest Baptist health care organization. This partnership will forever change the future of our organization.
Our merger with MBHS will make us one of the largest not-for-profit health care systems in the country and the largest health care provider in the Mid-South. We’ll be Mississippi’s largest health care system and its fourth largest employer. We will be able to deliver care more quickly and efficiently than ever before.
I would like to thank the dedicated group of leaders that worked tirelessly to make this merger happen. It took months of planning and discussion to ensure that this partnership was a win for everyone. But as hard as this team worked, this opportunity would not have been possible without you. Through your hard work, you have shown the entire health care world that we can succeed in the face of challenges and change. And the world is taking notice.
As significant as this merger is, it will not change who we are and what’s most important to us. We will continue to be led by the same faith-based mission that has guided us for more than 100 years. We will remain committed to all the communities we serve. We will remain committed to you and your growth within our organization. And we will remain committed to Baptist Cares, our effort to place empathy at the center of all we do. Our commitment to providing the best care possible to our patients is stronger than ever.
