Second quarter DAISY winners give heartfelt care

Deborah Boulware, RN, Critical Care, was selected Service First Champion for the second quarter at Baptist Golden Triangle. Deborah was nominated by a colleague for going above and beyond her normal work duties when she donated money to a patient’s wife to help with expenses during the patient’s transfer.

Aimee Floyd, RN, Pre-/Postcatheter Lab, went the extra mile to help a patient who was undergoing a catheter procedure and struggling with unexplained pain. Aimee relayed the patient’s concern to the doctor who then discovered the source of pain.

Amy Sullins, RN, 5 West, stayed with a patient during the last hours of her life and helped comfort the patient’s friends. A friend who was present said, “Amy offered her heart. No doubt about it, we experienced the presence of Christ personified in our nurse.”

Ricky Daniels, RN, 4 East, extended exceptional care and support to a patient facing an amputation. The patient shared that Ricky’s IV skills were exceptional as he helped the patient during an emotional moment.

Molly Blattner, RN, 4 East, helped a family cope with the father’s end-stage liver disease, visiting the family and providing detailed information. The patient said, “Molly made us feel like she was our family. I actually had a reason to smile, and there’s no reason to smile at this time.”
