Baptist Healthy Communities is the new faith-based program dedicated to reaching out to congregations of all faiths to promote healthier lifestyles and improve the overall wellness in the area. Baptist has always had strong ties with the faith community through our Memphis Healthy Churches program in partnership with Christ Community Health Services, but recognized the need to serve the entire community and engage Baptist team members as connectors to their places of worship.
Starting in April, Baptist Healthy Communities will visit various Baptist entities to provide information about what the program can offer their church or synagogue. Resources include information on certain topics like heart disease, diabetes, nutrition, emergency preparedness, pediatric care, domestic violence, and much more.
“We’re excited to launch this new program within our community because not only will it strengthen the health ministry, but it will also allow members to gain a better understanding of certain topics that they may not have the opportunity to ask about elsewhere,” said Ann Marie Wallace with Baptist’s community outreach department.
Baptist Healthy Communities also welcomes participation from all congregations. Members are invited to serve as a health ambassador, a clergy representative, or a Baptist connector.
